UPDATE: Congratulations to Landmark Elementary's Jasper Wilkes for winning the 1st grade art contest, Landmark Elementary's Christopher Raynor for placing 2nd in the 2nd grade art contest, and Sylvan Hills Elementary's Aliana Horton for placing 3rd in the 3rd grade art contest.
PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Pulaski County Special School District students had a great showing in this year’s Peace Week Essay and Art Contests. More than 10 students, District wide, are being recognized for their work.
Three students from Joe T. Robinson Middle are finalists for the essay contest. This year’s essay theme was: In 2022 the FBI reported that Arkansas has the nation's 4th highest rate of violent crime. How has violence impacted you and your communities? What can be done to reduce violence in Arkansas? Congratulations to 8th graders Adam York, Brogan Fountain, and Madison Prescott-Springfield.
Meanwhile, two students from Landmark Elementary, five students from Joe T. Robinson Middle, and two students from Sylvan Hills Elementary are finalists for the art contest. The year’s theme was: What does peace mean to you? Depict a more peaceful community in your art entry. Below is a list of finalists in the art category along with their submission.

Peace Week Art Contest finalist images are currently on display at the Arkansas State Capitol. Contest winners will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 23 in the Rotunda of the Arkansas State Capitol. The Essay Contest Award Ceremony is at 11 a.m. The Art Contest Award Ceremony is at 1 p.m.
