DYSLEXIA SERVICES

The Pulaski County Special School District adheres to all rules governing how to meet the needs of students with characteristics of dyslexia related to assessment, identification, and services.

Referrals for Level II screening and services for characteristics of dyslexia are initiated at the school level. The Response to Intervention (RTI) Coordinator should use the following forms to refer students. For additional information about PCSSD and Dyslexia, please contact your school principal.

Dyslexia Program
During the 2022-23 school year, Pulaski County Special School District used Take Flight and The Sonday System, Orton-Gillingham Based Reading Intervention Programs, in small group intervention to address the deficit areas of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of Dyslexia.

Total Number of Students Receiving Dyslexia Interventions
During the 2022-23 school year, 908 Pulaski County Special School District students were identified as receiving dyslexia interventions.

Total Number of Students Identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia
During the 2022-23 school year, 63 students attending Pulaski County Special School District were identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia but did not receive dyslexia interventions. Therefore, the total number of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia within the Pulaski County Special School District during the school year was 971.
